Q: I've had a few parents ask if they can read to their child for the Road to Success calendars, or if the child needs to be the one reading for 20 min.
Since Kindergartners are still working on sounding words out, it's absolutely appropriate for you to read to them, especially here in the beginning of the year, otherwise they'll get frustrated after 5 min. You can have them help you sound out simple 3 letter words, or look for letters that are in their name, as well as have your child point to each word as you read. These activities will help them tremendously as they begin reading on their own.
A: So the short answer is YES!
