Halloween Party

We started the day with some class pictures. I like to edit some of the photos to make them a little more artistic. If you'd like originals of any of these let me know and I'll e-mail them to you. If you double click on the photo you'll be taken to a higher resolution version of the image that you can right click and save. Enjoy!
 Scary Faces!
Then our blue shirted friends arrived. They are part of a class called Latinos in Action at the Middle School. They volunteer in our classroom for 45 minutes, twice a week. Their names are Moses, Vania and Jorge. The kids really enjoy working with them. We're so lucky to have them!
Then we had our AM Kindergarten parade. Mrs. Taylor took some great pictures of this. I'll post them on here as soon as I get them.
Once we got back to the classroom we read a pop-up book called "The Haunted House".
Then we played a game that really has no name. But here's how it goes. We get in a circle facing out. We sing the poem "Pumpkin, Pumpkin" (the same one in your binders) and on the last word we jump around and make a jack o lantern face at each other. Here's some of the fun. :)
After our game we started our Halloween centers

We wrapped tissue around a tootsie pops, tied them off, and drew on faces to make ghosts. Above: James, Brooklyn V. Below: Eliza

Then we did a ghost toss where we threw the ghost into our jack-o-lantern bucket. Below: Reed, Vanessa, Mads

Above: Connar, Karla, and Mylie; Below: Than and Anna play Memory. In this game we flip over two cards at a time and try to find matches.

Then we made treats: spiders! The kids loved eating them up. They assembled them themselves with Oreas, M&Ms, and black licorice. Below: Reed, Hailey, and Hannah

And of course, we couldn't have done any of these fun things without our awesome volunteers. Thank you!!!! If you see these wonderful people around, please tell them thank you for their help. In order we have Brooklyn K's mom, Morgan's mom, Logan's dad, Hailey's mom and then dad, Mylie's mom and then dad, and Koston's mom. A special thanks to Koston's mom for helping organize all of this. She's a superstar room parent!

What a successful first holiday celebration. Many more fun filled parties are to come. I can't wait!
